Energy, stress relief and a sporting balance to complement your work and family life.

YU TOURNAMENT

In a year, we host a total of four tournaments – exactly one per quarter. Participation in the tournaments is completely voluntary for all YU members.

This is your chance to get a taste of competitive sport and test yourself against others in a respectful environment. The winners in each category will be rewarded with trophies and medals!

In a YU tournament, you can score points in the following disciplines:

1. Hyong

Show off your precision, dynamism and concentration in the traditional form runs.

2. Poomsae

Show off your strength, focus and perfect technique as you smash through boards.

3. Break test

Gain height and perform spectacular kicks in mid-air.

4. Flying Kick

Test your skills in a sporting one-on-one contest involving minimal physical contact.

5. Light-contact free sparring

Experience the dynamic full-contact competition with special protective gear.

6. Free sparring (semi-contact)

Join forces and secure victory as a well-coordinated team.

YU LEAGUE

The YU League connects all four tournaments of the year into one grand championship. All points you collect at the individual tournaments are continuously added up. This creates our official annual ranking list over the course of the year.

The best thing about it is that trophies and medals aren’t just up for grabs at each individual tournament, but also as a major award for the entire league! At the end of the year, we’ll determine the overall winners in each of the six disciplines based on total points.

Versatility pays off!

Do you give it your all in several areas? We’ll reward you for that! In addition to the discipline rankings, there’s a separate award for the individual pupils who score the most points overall. So anyone who takes part in as many different disciplines as possible and demonstrates versatility is sure to secure a top spot in the YU League.

Children, Teenagers & Adults • Registration: 09:30 AM • Tournament Time: 10:00 AM - 06:00 PM Disciplines: Hyong, Poomsae, Board Breaking, Flying Kick, Team, Sparring

Hyong & Poomsae

  • Round 1 (Compulsory): A form corresponding to the Kup grade according to specifications (Highest form from the last belt exam).
  • Round 2 (Freestyle): Self-selected form (Highest form of the current belt).

Board Breaking

  • Round 1 (Qualification): 1 self-selected kick technique from: 1. Yeopchagi, 2. Dollyeochagi, 3. Bandae Dollyeochagi. (Yeopchagi: 2 boards)
  • Round 2 (Finals): All 5 breaks in sequence with a self-selected number of boards (1. Yeopchagi, 2. Dollyeochagi, 3. Bandae Dollyeochagi, 4. Punch, 5. Knife Hand).
  • * Scoring: 3 points per completely broken board. Point deductions according to regulations.

Flying Kick

Focus: Correct execution of jumping kicks at the specified height and technique.

  • Round 1: One jumping kick (specified) as qualification.
  • Round 2: 5 jumping techniques (Ap-Chagi: top of head +30cm | Dollyeo: top of head +10cm | Yeop from behind: head height | Heel: top of head +10cm | Yeop: belt top edge of hip bone).
  • * Minimum height refers to the lower edge of the target above the top of the head.

Team Demonstration

NEW: Entry fee €30 per team (2-6 people)

  • Duration: 60-second demonstration (+ 30 sec. each for setup and teardown).
  • Equipment: Technical accessories (speaker box etc.) must be provided by oneself.
  • Board Breaking: Up to 4 boards are included in the entry fee.
  • * Criteria: Creativity, technical difficulty, and overall impression (max. 15 total points).

Sparring Regulations

Light Contact Sparring (Points)

• Punch to the body: 1 point • Kick to the head: 2 points • Jumping kick to the head: 3 points

Semi-Contact Sparring ITF (Points)

• Punch: Body 1 point | Head 1 point • Kick: Body 2 points | Head 3 points Match Duration: 1 min. 30 sec. (continuous, running count)
WARNING FOR EXCESSIVE CONTACT: 1st warning is given directly, on the 2nd offense a point will be deducted immediately. Minimum Protective Equipment Requirements: Head guard, gloves, foot protectors, mouthguard, men's groin guard.
