The YU Taekwondo Easter Camp 2027 takes us on an extraordinary 13-day journey through Taiwan and Japan. From 18–30 March 2027, Martial Arts, culture, centuries-old traditions, personal development and unforgettable shared experiences come together in one unique YU adventure.
Our journey begins in Taipei before continuing to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka and finally to Okinawa. Along the way, we will discover some of Asia’s most fascinating places while experiencing the culture and traditions surrounding Martial Arts.
Dojo visits and Martial Arts experiences meet Tai Chi, temples, Zen gardens, a traditional tea ceremony, vibrant cities and the nature of Okinawa. Most importantly, we experience this journey together as one YU community.
The YU Martial Arts & Culture Tour 2027 combines travelling with the values and experiences that define YU. Instead of simply visiting new places, we want to experience different cultures, traditions and ways of life together.
Martial Arts accompany us throughout the journey. In Taipei, a Tai Chi experience is planned as well as, if possible, an exchange with local martial artists. In Japan, we explore Martial Arts history and experience training in a Japanese dojo.
At the same time, we discover how movement, discipline, respect, tradition and personal development can be connected. This combination turns our Easter Camp into much more than a sightseeing trip.
Our YU Taekwondo Easter Camp 2027 begins with arrival in Taipei on 18 March. After the long international journey, participants check into the hotel and have time to settle in, relax and recover from the flight.
There is deliberately no full programme planned for this first day. It gives everyone the opportunity to arrive comfortably before our shared Martial Arts & Culture Tour officially begins the following day.
On 19 March, our shared programme begins in Taipei. Taiwan’s capital is the first major stop of our journey and combines modern city life, traditional culture, nature and Martial Arts.
Together we plan to discover Taipei 101, experience the famous Night Markets and visit the historic mountain town of Jiufen. Hot Springs and a Night Hike with views over Taipei and the illuminated Taipei 101 are also part of the planned programme.
One morning begins in a very different way with a shared Tai Chi experience in a local park. Where possible, we also aim to organise a special Martial Arts training session or exchange with local martial artists.
On 23 March, our journey continues from Taiwan to Japan. Tokyo is one of the world’s most fascinating cities, where futuristic architecture and technology exist alongside temples, tradition and centuries of Martial Arts history.
We explore Samurai and Martial Arts history and plan to visit and train in a Japanese dojo – one of the special highlights of the entire YU Martial Arts & Culture Tour.
But Tokyo also shows us modern Japan. TeamLab, Shibuya and its famous Scramble Crossing, a spectacular city viewpoint and historic Tokyo give us very different perspectives on this extraordinary metropolis.
Even the journey from Tokyo to Kyoto becomes part of the experience. On 26 March, we travel through Japan aboard the legendary Shinkansen high-speed train.
After the energy of Taipei and Tokyo, this part of our journey becomes more reflective. Temples, shrines, Zen gardens and historic districts introduce us to the traditional and spiritual side of Japan.
A traditional Japanese tea ceremony and cultural workshop give us another opportunity to experience customs and traditions rather than simply observe them.
One of the most extraordinary experiences of the journey is planned in the Kyoto/Osaka area: an overnight stay in a Japanese monastery. For one night, we leave conventional hotel comfort behind and experience simplicity, tranquillity, tradition and spirituality.
On 28 March, we fly from Osaka to Okinawa for the final stage of the YU Taekwondo Easter Camp 2027. Here, many of the elements that define our journey come together once again.
We plan to visit a local dojo and explore Okinawa’s special significance in the history and development of Martial Arts. Where possible, we would also like to train together with local Japanese martial artists or masters.
Alongside Martial Arts, we discover Okinawa’s culture, nature and island atmosphere. After the intensive days in Taiwan and mainland Japan, there will also be time to experience the beach, sea and tropical side of Japan.
Our official shared YU programme ends in Okinawa on 30 March 2027. Participants can then travel home individually or extend their stay in Japan at their own expense.
Martial Arts are about much more than physical techniques. Respect, discipline, focus, perseverance and personal development have been passed down through generations of Martial Arts traditions.
The YU Taekwondo Easter Camp 2027 therefore gives us the opportunity not only to train, but also to explore the cultural environments, traditions and history surrounding Asian Martial Arts.
Temples, Zen gardens, traditional practices and encounters with local martial artists can offer new perspectives on our own training. We return home not only with photographs and memories, but also with new experiences and inspiration for our own Martial Arts journey.
Children are also welcome to join the YU Martial Arts & Culture Tour. The travel package for children up to and including 11 years of age is €1,750 per child.
The child price applies when staying together with the parents in a suitable family, triple or multi-bed room. It generally also applies to two accompanying children up to and including 11 years of age, provided suitable shared accommodation is available.
If an additional room is required due to hotel requirements, additional costs may apply. These will be communicated before the binding booking.
International flights are not included in the YU Travel Package and must be booked and paid for individually. The current estimated price for the recommended international multi-city flight is approximately €1,400–1,500 per person.
The Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto is also paid separately and is currently estimated at approximately €100 per person. The domestic flight from Osaka to Okinawa is currently estimated at approximately €150–200 per person.
Meals and drinks are generally not included unless they are expressly included as part of a specific programme activity. All external travel costs shown are non-binding estimates and may vary depending on booking date and availability.
International flights are deliberately booked individually. This allows participants to travel from their preferred departure airport and, if desired, extend their stay before or after the shared YU programme.
YU will provide participants with recommended connections and organisational information. The currently recommended multi-city route is Europe → Taipei, Taipei → Tokyo and Okinawa → Europe.
Please do not book international flights until YU has officially confirmed that the journey will take place and has provided the recommended flight connections.
Meals are generally not included in the YU Travel Package unless specifically stated for an individual programme activity. This gives everyone the freedom to discover the incredible culinary variety of Taiwan and Japan.
Night Markets, ramen, sushi, small traditional restaurants and countless local specialities become part of the travel experience. Everyone can decide what, when and where they would like to eat.
As we travel together from Taiwan through Tokyo and Kyoto to Okinawa, we recommend travelling as lightly as possible. There will be regular opportunities to wash clothes during the journey, making it easier to travel comfortably with less luggage.
The completed and signed registration form must be submitted to the respective YU school management no later than 30 November 2026.
A €500 cash deposit per person is due upon registration. The remaining amount must be paid by 15 January 2027.
For questions about the journey or registration, please contact us at camp@yu-taekwondo.at.
